LA FIN DE LA GUERRE FROIDE
This is a project carried out as part of one of my courses at ECV.
We began by creating geometric compositions centered around the themes of conflict and resistance. We then translated this into three-dimensional forms.
Next, it was time to introduce materials. I began my search for inspiration. Certain images caught my attention.
The way light traversed different artworks struck me as particularly intriguing.
It was from these images that I got the idea to use water and transparent materials to create my sculptures.
I crafted containers using clear plexiglass boards, which I filled with water.
Equipped with a light source and a camera, I took numerous photos, experimenting with shadows. One photo immediately stood out due to the shadows cast between the sculptures.
These shadows formed a broken line, symbolizing the boundary between opposing forces. This image reminded me of ice blocks, so I emphasized this cold feeling by tinting my image blue.
The concept of conflict and ice made me think of the Cold War. The broken line could be interpreted as the Iron Curtain, and the ice blocks as those of East and West.
With these blocks seemingly melting, it brought to mind the end of the Cold War. Therefore, I chose the Caen Memorial as the sponsor for my final poster..
